If I Could Imagine

The Perfect Christmas I go over to my grandmothers house, lit decorations, great food. Games for us as a family to play, laughter, no argueing. Smelling the freshly baked cookies, cake, banana pudding. Watching the football/basketball game. And when it’s time for opening presents by the lit Christmas tree. Me getting lots of presents and games for Christmas, also money as a bonus. The smiles on everyone’s faces when they open up their presents. After presents we go around gloating about what we got and them getting jealous. At the end of it all, going to visit my mom for Christmas break and also getting presents over there, lots of fun and laughter over there too. And my mom is a great cook too, so i’d want some of her Christmas dinner. Then after I eat i’d get to play all the games I got for Christmas with my brother and my sister, more laughter. Then we’d all stop playing at 1 or 2 pm because when I’m over there we always stay up late having fun on breaks. Then i’d set my bed do

I know, Minecraft...

This book I read it’s called Quest for the Golden Apple. It starts out with a character named Phoenix. Phoenix is a miner, she lives with a whole lot villagers and she doesn’t know that she’s a miner. One day she goes out to explore the outside world. She is forbidden from going outside of the village because there are dangerous things out there. She and her villager brother go outside the border, and something happens to her brother. Which takes Phoenix out to the quest of a golden apple. It’s a long journey home. And on the way she finds a wolf that she has tamed to help her on this journey. My favorite part of this book towards the end is when her and her friends fight this witch, it was interesting. I advise the readers to read this book, if you play minecraft —I don’t but I used to— you’d like this book. It’s also a graphic novel so it’s easy to read.

Outsiders Connection to Another Article

Healing ‘Brick City’: A Newark Doctor returns home relates to The Outsiders in different ways. In both the article and the book they resemble heroism and lots of struggle, loss, and sacrifice.     “My past wasn’t always perfect. I grew up in a single-parent home with five siblings [in a] drug-infested community”. This relates to The Outsiders because, Johnny gave back to be apart of tomorrow. He risked his life in a burning church, to save children. He was a brave hero, and the the man gave back by also saving lives as a doctor, and his mother’s words of the wiser set him up for life to help his community.     “Through my mother’s way of handling life, she always made sure that I understood the need to give back.... She always said, ‘Once you make it, you have to come back and help other people.’ Too often, in Newark especially, I see so many professionals that do make it out — they don’t return. And I think that’s a crime in itself.... You have to have some social consciousness to

All American Boys Book Talk!

I just finished this book called All American Boys, It’s a novel created by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. This book talks about something that happens in Chicago a lot and it’s a problem, this is a very relatable book and I can relate because it’s happened to me before but in a different way. All American Boys is about this boy named Rashad and this boy name Quinn and something really horrible happens to Rashad before a party and the person who did the horrible thing to Rashad is actually Quinn’s admirer and something between the two happens because Quinn can’t stop thinking or talking about Rashad because what the person did was very wrong of him. My favorite part of this book is when everyone cares about Rashad and everyone goes out of their way to support Rashad in this incident. And when Rashad finds out a lot about his dad that he never said before to anyone. Rashad is a nice boy, he would never do anything wrong, he is innocent and he never means to hurt anyone, h

Interesting Comparison From the Book to The Movie (The Outsiders)

There is always a difference between a book and the remake in a movie, just with the outsiders it has many similarities and differences. One similarity would be in both the movie and the book they would meet Cherry Valentine in the theatre. Another similarity is when johnny kills Cherry Valentine’s boyfriend, Bob, which plays a huge part in the story. Next the church caught on fire which, Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny all saved kids. Second to last Johnny dies a few days later because of the fire and it sends a few people crazy. Lastly Darry also gets shot up by the police because he robbed a store, and pulled out his gun on purpose, he wanted to die because of his best friend Johnny, he didn't know what to do without him. The few similarities from the book to the movie, the big similarities.     Finally for the differences, there is always a difference no matter what, everybody makes mistakes. When Ponyboy goes to the theatre to get some popcorn with Cherry, in the book there is n

3 More Till’ My Nightmare

Quarter 1 is finally over! It’s been great but cya wouldn’t wanna be ya. This 1st quarter has been a hassle but it’ll get harder.... I’ve been paying attention, learning my teachers. This month is usually about reviewing over 7th grade which is what i needed. In my classes and on my assignments I would always get good grades, but i’m looking to improve to mostly 4’s and i’m Looking forward to it. My favorite class would be math because, somehow I instantly understand, and for me it’s the EASIEST class because of no researching just numbers and extremely into numbers which I love. I’d love to improve by paying attention also. I’m always prepared and never late, if I was ever late, i’d have a good reason to be. In school i’m In a few clubs, 2 of them are to help around the world because I believe I can become a hero to this world. One is called MeToWe and we would raise money to help other people. Last week we had raised food to send to the food pantries to help our community because we

Me and Only Me

This quote would represent me in many ways, usually I'm a nervous wreck trying to talk in front of everyone and this quote had helped me. When I get up in front of everyone, all I think of is what if this goes wrong or what if I mess up. This quote represents me because I want to be motivated to help change the world, I'm in this club called MetoWe and we help raise money to help people in need around the world, and right now we're collecting cans to send to a food pantry to help people around our neighborhood for people who  can't provide food for themselves. Me and my mom we went through a time where we didn't have food at all but then she found out that there were food pantries and then we had about 7 in the house so we had got a lot of food.

My Identity

I have many things that define me. Not by just looks but by my culture and family and lifestyle. Of course I am black/African American. I have a long history of bad things and good things that has happened to my culture. My family is Christian and we love to go to church. Our family is actually known and for generations passed down to sing. We are very spiritual and when I'm over my mom's house we usually listen to gospel music. I am a brother of 2 and an uncle of 3. My brother and sister both have kids, Daylena and DaS'hown. And my brother has 1 child that is a girl; Shonti. And my sister has 2 boys, Joshua who turned four on september 18th and my other nephew Jordan who turned 1 year old in July 21st. My mom is a really great cook, but she inspired me to want to be a professional cook, I want to learn how to cook better than her. Even though I am only 13, I still have jobs like most 13 year olds have a job to be students. But I have my own jobs probably a lot of people

All Grown Up

Where I would be in 10 years would be a cook. (I have back up jobs which are a building manager or a lawyer because they make lots of money.) When I'm all grown up I'll have a nice house with three of my dream cars, a Flex which is a car that can hold like 12 people I've been in one on the way to church carrying all the members. Another car would be a drop top Mercedes, I want a drop top because I like the wind blowing in my face on the expressway and it looks really awesome, I've been in a drop top car only once in my whole entire life. Lastly the car that I would want would be a 3 wheeled motorcycle because I don't know how to ride a bike so the 3 wheels would help. But, I'd love for my nice house to be fully furnished and have a big beautiful garden. A long time from now I see my self cooking for people in my own restaurant and living a normal life. Later on in life I would be living with my girlfriend because at 23 I would be too young for a wife even though

Life Experiences

All of the life experiences I've ever had taught me a lot. Including my 2 nephews being born. One  of my most joyful days happened on September 21st, 2013. I became an uncle! His name was Joshua and he was my sister's baby, but to get the baby out.... She needed a c-section which is where the doctors cut her open. At this time I was walking to school and it was nice and sunny outside with the wind whistling through the air, *Ding* it was a text from my mom... and it was a picture of my little nephew. My mouth opened up wide, I couldn't believe that I was an uncle, it felt like joy and excitement both punched me at the same time. During school I couldn't stop talking about how excited I was to become an uncle. But then something brought me back in time thinking about...... *Rewind 5 Months*      It was a cold cold day, I had grabbed my bag and went to school, but I forgot to grab something important and I ran out the door so my dad could take me to school.
